I analyzed global insulin trade flows by building a graph of import and export routes using Neo4j. Using graph centrality algorithms such as Betweenness Centrality and PageRank, I was able to identify the U.S.’s strategic role in the insulin trade network. Despite being one of the top exporters of insulin, the U.S. imports $432 million more insulin than it exported in 2024. By leveraging Neo4j’s graph data science capabilities, I uncovered the structural dynamics of medical supply chains and the broader implications of trade policy on critical healthcare products.
